Perinatal Mental Health

I specialize in perinatal mental health, and support individuals and couples experiencing:

  • Ambivalence with becoming parents, fertility challenges, and related stressors

  • Grief and loss after miscarriage, stillbirth, or termination of a pregnancy

  • Prenatal diagnosis, premature delivery, or NICU stay

  • Trauma related to childbirth

  • Mental health challenges during pregnancy and/or postpartum (depression, anxiety, OCD, other)

  • Difficult adjustment to parenthood (guilt, shame, anger, identity shift, isolation, body image issues)

  • Relationship challenges intensified by any or many of the above topics

"Perinatal" includes preconception, pregnancy, birth, and the first twelve months postpartum. This is a period of time that is marked by complex transitions and changes in identity and relationship. For many, it's a season of life that is filled with joy, and positive feelings. However, for many others this is a time that comes with unexpected challenges, and these can be devastating and tough to navigate. It can bring on a great deal of pain, isolation, fears, anger and grief. If you are finding this phase of life confronting, know that you're not alone.
